Geotagging fun!

I bought a GPS data logger today (Sony GPS-CS1) and was testing it out. It allows me to embed GPS location data into my digital pictures and to automatically place them onto a map (in this case, Google Maps). Click here to see the results. It's pretty neat and I'm planning on using it during our road trip this summer.

Will it hook up to the Nikon D40?

Oh, yes--for sure! It doesn't matter what digital camera you have. Basically, you download the log file from the GPS unit, the software matches the date and time on your pictures to your GPS location on the log file, and then embeds the info in the exif of your picture.

It's really easy because sites like Flickr can automatically put your pictures on a map when you upload them.
